Discover the magic and art of Tove Jansson’s beloved Moomin landscapes. Frances will show you how to draw the scenery and compose an image in the style of Tove Jansson, as well as learning about the life and lesser known works of this creative genius.
Tove Jansson was a Finnish painter and writer who was born in Helsinki in 1914. Throughout her life she wrote over 20 books and illustrated them, creating beloved Moomins which are still enjoyed by people today. Sign up for this online class to explore her works and learn about her drawing techniques!
All levels are welcome – let your imagination wander and join us for this magical class about Tove Jansson’s beloved creations!
YOU WILL NEED:
- a pencil and paper!
- If you have but not necessary: A range of fine liner pens with varying thickness. Approx. 3 pens
- Or a dip pen and ink with bibs of varying thicknesses
Our classes are always donation based- pay what you can !

This class is suitable for all levels
Everyone is welcome to join this Pay-What-You-Can class. We suggest a donation of £20, all of which will go to our tutors. However, we understand that may not be possible for everybody. Please be honest and pay what you can afford so that we may continue to offer our sessions on a donation basis.
Once you have booked your place, you will receive a confirmation email and be able to access information on how to join the event via your eventbrite “Online Event Page” You can access this by signing into eventbrite or creating an account using the email address that you booked with.
ABOUT THE TUTOR:
Frances is an artist and co-founder of London Drawing Group. Frances’ art practice is rooted in drawing and moves between printmaking and painting. She studied Illustration at Falmouth University and met Luisa and Lucy, the other co-founders of LDG, during a scholarship place at The Royal Drawing School Central.
Frances’ teaching practice is all about using traditional drawing techniques and experimentation alongside an open and friendly approach, with the hope that she will help you to draw and make art with confidence (whilst having a lot of of fun!).
