Join us for QuickBooks Online for Small Family Businesses, where we’ll help you streamline your financial management and boost your business

Join us for an exciting 2-day workshop with Dr. Fernando Parra, Director of the Institute for Family Business and Associate Professor of Accountancy at the Craig School of Business, and Jonathan Court, Regional Business Specialists for the Central Valley’s Women Entrepreneurs’ Center at Fresno State. In these Spanish and English seminars, we will dive into the world of QuickBooks Online to learn how to efficiently manage your finances, track expenses, and streamline your business operations. Gain mastery in sales tax handling, ensuring compliance with ease, and learn practical tips for easy mileage tracking and efficient digital receipt management.

If you are a small family business, this in-person event is perfect for you. You will learn how to use the software in the first session (Nov. 3) and work on your own books in the second session (Nov. 17). You will also network with other family businesses and exchange ideas to propel your family business forward.

About the Speakers

Dr. Fernando Parra is an Associate Professor of Accountancy and the Institute for Family Business Director at the Craig School of Business. Dr. Parra supported his family’s business from a very young age as a bookkeeper. The family values he learned motivated him to seek an education in business. He has extensive experience supporting small to medium-sized businesses with accounting and other enterprise software. He has also published and presented research on accounting and family business topics, including accounting information systems, in several international forums and journals. He is the recipient of the 2023 Faculty Award for Service.

Jonathan Court is a Business Counselor at the Central Valley Women’s Entrepreneur Center who specializes in areas of finance and accounting. In addition to being a select member of the Smittcamp Family Honors College, Jonathan recently graduated from the Craig School of Business at Fresno State with Summa Cum Laude honors. He is also a recipient of the 2023 Accounting Undergraduate Medal, the highest available honor to an accounting student. Jonathan is delighted to support the small businesses at the Women Entrepreneurs Center with his extensive accounting experience.

About the Institute for Family Business

The Institute for Family Business is a comprehensive resource center for education, family business knowledge, and community involvement that serves the needs of the family-owned and closely-held partnerships in the Central California area with the intent of improving the success of families and their businesses. The IFB offers seminars that provide advice and guidance from experts on how to navigate unique family business issues. The Institute also inspires Fresno State’s diverse student body to become the next generation of family business leaders. Hence, facilitating the recruitment of students and graduates as employees, interns, and mentees.

About the Central Valley Women’s Entrepreneur Center

The Central Valley Women’s Entrepreneur Center (WE Center) was established to fill the gaps in small business technical assistance services to women in the Central Valley. As a Partnership Program with the SBA administered by California State University, Fresno, it is funded in part through a Cooperative Agreement with the U.S. Small Business Administration. The WE Center is designed to assist women across the Central Valley who want to expand or begin their entrepreneurial careers, taking into consideration the challenges of growing a small business and therefore providing the necessary tools to create a reliable foundation in order for a business to grow. The WE Center is staffed by bilingual business specialists who understand how to launch and help expand a business.
