About our Cost of Living Support Hubs for Dudley Borough Residents Only

Update -15th November 2023

Please note the criteria for our Hubs

The criteria for visiting the Cost of Living Support Hubs will change week beginning 20th November, this change is due to the upcoming winter and the extra costs associated with this time of year.

From the week beginning 20th November, households can now visit the Cost of Living Support Hubs 3 more times. Attendance history related to receiving household support fund (supermarket voucher) will be wiped, so it doesn’t matter if you have attended the Hub before.

Households are permitted to attend up to 3 times starting from the week beginning 20th November. This means 3 visits across any of our Hubs and not each Hub.

However, please note this is NOT for fuel bank vouchers (gas/electric). We can still only issue pup to 3 fuel vouchers within 6 months. Fuel bank vouchers are only available to those on a pre-payment meter, who are also struggling to pay bills and who haven’t already received 3 fuel bank vouchers in the last 6 months from an organisation and each voucher has to be issued a minimum of 10 days apart). Therefore, please be clear if you are eligible BEFORE you book an appointment to avoid disappointment at the hub AND not to take up an appointment that someone else can use.

Prior to booking an appointment at our Hubs, please ensure you read all the following information carefully.

Please note the following criteria for our Hubs:

  • Households are permitted to attend a further 3 times from 20th November. This is for any of our hubs (i.e. 3 times across any hub and not per hub)
  • There must be a minimum of 12 days between each appointment.
  • Households must live in the Dudley Borough, e.g. paying council tax to Dudley Borough Council.
  • Only one appointment per household is required, regardless of how many members of the household are attending on the day.
  • If you are not eligible your appointment may be cancelled or you will be refused entry on the day.

Cancellation: If you no longer require your ticket, please cancel it to free up space for someone else. To cancel your ticket please login to your Eventbrite account and click on your profile icon where you will see your Active Tickets. Click on the ticket you wish to cancel and on the left hand side you will see the Cancel Order option. Please click and confirm cancellation.

On the day:

You must attend at the start of the appointment slot (preferably 5 minutes before), and be prepared to stay for the entirety of your appointment time.

You must bring with you 2 forms of ID:

✓ 1 form of ID with your Full Name (passport, travel pass, debit card, Driving license etc.)

AND;

✓ 1 Recent Letter/Bill with your name and address to prove you’re a Dudley Borough resident (e.g. a recent council tax bill, gas/electric/water bill, benefits awards letter, letter from Dudley Council, letter from the Government, PIP or DLA letter, TV license etc) dated in the last 3 months

We reserve the right to ask for photo ID if we think it’s required to verify your ID, and we cannot accept a banking app as proof of your address.

Hub Process:

You must arrive for your appointment on time at the beginning of the appointment slot you have booked e.g. if your appointment slot says 10am you must arrive at 9.55am and be prepared to stay for the whole session. Late arrivals may mean you will need to rebook.

When you arrive at one of our hubs at the allocated appointment start time, one of our friendly hub staff will greet you and complete an assessment to establish your eligibility for support.

Poverty relieving practical assistance will then be provided based on your assessment. For example:

✓ Giving information on how to save money and make money stretch further

✓ Offering practical help relating to access to food, fuel, energy, period products, available benefits, grants and funds based on qualifying criteria

✓ Showing how energy usage can be reduced and ways to save money on utilities

✓ Issuing a voucher per household to purchase essentials in a variety of shops (NB: these vouchers can only be issued in a crisis, and are subject to availability)

✓ Issuing a fuel bank voucher (NB: only available to those on a pre-payment meter and are struggling to pay bills and who haven’t already received 3 fuel bank vouchers in the last 6 months from an organisation and not within the last 10 days)

✓ Making a referral for a 3-month loan of a laptop to help at home (subject to equipment availability) – Please note Geobook laptop referrals have been suspended until further notice due to over subscribing with the provider.

✓ Identifying other organisations that can help with the struggles being experienced

If you need us, we look forward to seeing you there!

Appointment Time

Please note, once you have booked an appointment through Eventbrite you will receive a confirmation email. On this email it will state the start of the session time. Please arrive 5 minutes before your appointment start time and please be prepared to stay for the whole session time. Please note due to demand for this service late arrivals may be refused entry as your appointment could be given to someone else on the day.

Cancellation

If you no longer want an appointment or can’t attend, please cancel the appointment so it can be released for another person to book. Our resources are precious so please be kind and don’t waste the appointment – cancel even if it’s on the day. Thank you!

Due to demand for this service, we release appointments on a weekly basis. If there are no appointments available, please keep checking every day until more are released.
